RegioTriRhena President Bernd Dallmann in an interview with the Badische Zeitung: “Working for the Region.”
Bernd Dallmann, 75, was Freiburg’s top economic development official for over three decades. Today, he advocates for joint projects in the border triangle and keeps a close eye on developments in China.
In the past, says Bernd Dallmann, being located in a border region was an economic disadvantage. Today, he says, the border location has turned into an advantage: “The key is that while borders preserve cultural distinctiveness, they must not hinder the exchange of labor, knowledge, services, and economic activities,” says the economist, who holds a doctorate in economics. He sees excellent prospects for the future for Freiburg and Southern Baden, for Alsace, and for the Basel region—but only if everyone continues to work together.
