Visitation of the National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food, and the Environment (INRAE) in Colmar, Alsace

Colmar Around 35 interested members and guests of RegioTriRhena visited INRAE (Institut national de recherche pour l'agriculture, l'alimentation et l'environnement – National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food, and the Environment) in Colmar. The numerous guests were welcomed by the three presidents, Jean Klinkert, Bernd Dallmann, and Kathrin Amacker.
INRAE is one of the most important players in the field of research and innovation in France.

The institute has 18 research centers, including the Institut Grand Est – Colmar, which specializes in two key areas: the biology of disease resistance and quality research in grapevines, and the sustainable management of forest, agricultural, and urban landscapes. With a team of 130 researchers, engineers, and technicians, the Grand Est – Colmar center aims to further expand its role as a European center of excellence for the strategic topics of vines and wine through close cooperation with German and Swiss partners.

Serge Kauffmann, President of INRAE, and his team gave guests an exciting insight into the institute's diverse work program. Among other things, the focus was on questions such as: “How does climate change affect viticulture?” and “What adaptation strategies are needed to meet the new challenges?”

The visit included a tour of the INRAE premises and a tasting of innovative wines.
